Antonietta Collins

Antonietta Toni Collins is an Mexican American journalist. She is currently a sportscaster for ESPN and is anchor of SportsCenter news and hosting SportsNation. She started working at ESPN in the year 2016. The daughter of TV journalist Maria Antonieta Collins. Antonietta Collins speaks two languages and has been for a long time, starting at the age of 9. Her ability in this area has helped her get her first job with Univision, Miami. She could work alongside national producers on shows such as Nuestra Belleza Latina Premios Lo Nuestro Premios Juventud Primer Impacto. In the following years her first job, her CBS station in St. Petersburg employed her as a sports reporter. She relocated into Rio Grande Valley in 2009 in order to join the team of reporters at the Spanish channel KNVO TV 48 Univision, as well as Fox2 News. Covering stories relating to drug trafficking and immigration both at the Texas and Mexico the border. She served as a journalist on KNVO TV 48 Univision, the Spanish channel KNVO TV48 Univision, as well as Fox2 News. The anchor also acted as a fill-in anchors on sports and weather. Later, she was anchor and reporter to Univision's Dallas affiliate Deportes 23 where she was given more responsibilities. She reported on The Major League Baseball ALDS ALCS World Series, the Dallas Cowboys and the NBA Postseason as well as the finals of FC Dallas FC Dallas Stars. Additionally, she was the producer of Univision 23's local sports broadcast Accion Deportiva Extra on which she was anchor herself. She was anchor for the sports segment of Despierta America Deportes morning show. In the same capacity for the network's magazine show Primer Impacto and for UniMas Network's Contacto Deportivo. Antonietta Collins was a native of Veracruz, Mexico. She was born on 22nd November 1984 and was raised in Mexico City. There is also a sister. The family left in 1992 Mexico to the US and relocated to Miami. Her parents divorced shortly afterwards and in 1995 she tied the knot with a naval designer named Fabio Fajardo. Fabio Fajardo passed away in 2006 due to kidney cancer. It was on a holiday in the summer that she lived together with her sister and her sister in Canton Ohio where the older Collins girl had gotten work. As a senior in high school and yet with a clear idea about what she wanted to pursue for her life, Antonietta went to the University of Mount Union to determine if the school was suitable for her requirements. She loved the campus. It also gave her the major that she desired. After graduation, she enrolled in the university with a major in media studies. The relationship she formed was long-lasting with her instructor Mark Bergmann who was the supervisor at WRMU 91.1 FM, a station of which she was a participant. His passion for journalism and the confidence she had in herself encouraged her. In turn, she, tried to meet the requirements of his boss and not disappoint him.
